The small village of Piges (Piges in Greek means "Springs") is located in Drama Prefecture of Macedonia, in Northern Greece, almost 650Km from the capital’s area, Athenian. Pighes quarry sites are nearby this homonymous village. Drama and Piges are parts of a region with many natural stone corporations and also parts of the major source of whitish and white marble types producing area, "Drama, Kavala, Thassos". This region, blessed with rich deposits, is also known as the Carrara of Greece in comparison with Carrara area, the major italian extracting area of white marble. | ||

The commercial exploitation of White Pighes although it is not dated back to ancient times and is quite recent (the last few decades), it is quite promising as it has been proved that there are plenty and rich deposits of this beautiful natural stone. The material in all its types is extracted in the forms of raw blocks from the most productive and fine selection producing mines.
